ABOUT THE LIBRARY
Overall Philosophy
The mission of the Hosanna Christian Academy Library is to enhance our student's learning experience by providing resources and materials which will support the educational program of the school. Our goal is to establish and maintain a collection with a wide range of educational materials on all levels of difficulty, with diversity of appeal. Our hope is that our student's overall library experience will facilitate a life-long love of reading. Our prayer is that all who enter the HCA library will feel welcomed, loved, and free to take a deep breath and enjoy the change in pace from their usual classroom time, while still learning and growing.
Efforts toward Collection Integrity
Every reasonable effort will be made to house only "appropriate" books in our HCA library collection. The idea of appropriateness is somewhat subjective however, and we ask for your understanding in this area. Most of our book titles are researched in advance of purchase using a variety of sites that provide Christian parent reviews, etc. We will be thoughtful in our book selection; taking our faith and principals as a school into consideration in our decision making. That being said, it is impossible to find detailed reviews on every book, much less read all books in their entirety. We currently house over 8,000 books, and add hundreds of new titles each year. Please help us by notifying the library staff of any books which concern you, or your child, and we will absolutely consider their removal, after consulting with administration.
Policies and Procedures
Reference materials may not be checked out, but may be used while in the library. Students must return overdue books before checking out another one. Overdue notices will be sent home on a regular basis until the overdue book is returned. Damaged items should be returned immediately for evaluation/repair. Students will be billed for library items that have been lost or damaged. Report cards will not be released to students that have an outstanding library bill.
