Tribute to Two Faithful Lady Blazers
The Hosanna athletic program is blessed to have two outstanding female athletes who have faithfully represented the school for several years. While each has participated in more than one sport, each has excelled in one. Both are also outstanding students in the honors program.
Laticia Watson
Senior Laticia Watson has competed on the Lady Blazer track team since she was in 6th grade. She qualified to compete at the state track meet as a 7th grader and won her first state championship in the 300 hurdles as an 8th grader. She has won 8 individual event state championships in outdoor track (4 consecutive years in the triple jump) and 2 in indoor track. She holds the state Class B record in the outdoor 300 hurdles She owns school outdoor records in the high jump, long jump, triple jump, 100 meter hurdles, and 300 meter hurdles. She also has school indoor records in the triple jump, high jump, long jump, 400 meters, and 55 meter hurdles. She has been instrumental in three consecutive team district championships and top 5 team finishes at the state meet for three consecutive years, including a state runner-up finish in 2009 and a state championship in 2010.
Erica Teschke
Junior Erica Teschke has played varsity basketball since 7th grade. She broke into the starting lineup during that 7th grade year and has been a starter since that time. She was All District Honorable Mention as a 7th grader before being named 1st team All District as an 8th grader, freshman, and sophomore. She was also named All State Honorable Mention as a sophomore. Erica has been named to several All Tournament teams over the years. She was instrumental in the team district championship her freshman season. Erica moved to the top of the list for a Lady Blazer basketball career in only her sophomore season in the following statistics: assists, deflections, and forced turnovers. Through the first 17 games of the 2011-12 season, she has moved into the #1 position in Lady Blazer career statistics for games started, games played, rebounds, steals, and points scored. She is also #3 in hustles and #4 in blocked shots and charges taken.
