
Hosanna Christian Academy’s Laticia Watson is the AAU Southeast Region Champion in the heptathlon. She won the championship in competition held June 14 and 15. This qualifies her to compete in the United States Junior Olympics in New Orleans in July. Events included in the heptathlon are the 100 meter hurdles, 200 meter sprint, high jump, shot put, javelin, long jump, and 800 meter run.
HOSANNA WELL REPRESENTED AT THE STATE TRACK MEET ON MAY 5
The Lady Blazers tied for 4th. Laticia Watson earned the Outstanding Performer Award after capturing three first place finishes and one second place. She missed the state record in the triple jump by 1.25 inch.
The Blazers finished 6th in the boys competition. They were led by Diyondre Henry who won the 300 hurdles, missing the state record by .03 second. He also finished 2nd in the 110 hurdles. Areco Foster, Micah Fordham, and Josh Fino joined Diyondre to end the season in fine fashion by winning the 1600 relay and shattering the school record in the last event of the state meet.

The girls track team more than doubled the second place team while winning their third consecutive district championship April 19. The following girls qualified to compete in the regional meet April 27 at Welsh:
R. Douglas, M. West, K. Taylor, C. Hebert, L. Watson, D. Small, G. Patterson, K. Ridley, M. Georgetown, J. Heatly, J. Marshall, K. Mills, K. Phillips,
L. Watson won the Outstanding Overall Athlete Award at district while R. Douglas and K. Mills were named Outstanding Field Athlete and Outstanding Track Athlete, respectively.
While the Hosanna boys saw a streak of four consecutive district championships come to an end, several Boys qualified to compete at the Regional Meet in Welsh on April 27.
