Book-It News
2010—2011
Our yearly Book-It reading program uses this reading program to encourage leisure reading and increase reading comprehension for kindergarten through 3rd grade.
Accelerated Reader
2010—2011
Hosanna Christian Academy uses this nationally acclaimed reading program for our students in grades 4-7. This program is a computer generated testing program to improve reading comprehension and promote the love of reading. Books in the library are aligned with the program and are marked with a colored dot signifying their approximate reading level. After reading an 'AR' Students who meet their monthly goals will have the opportunity to participate in field trips and monthly parties. Information and monthly requirements for each grade level were sent home by the teachers.
The Accelerated Reader Program is available at Red Bluff. Books in the library that are aligned with this program are marked with a colored dot signifying their approximate reading level. After reading an "A.R." book, students are tested for comprehension on a classroom computer. Points are earned for each correct answer.
B. E. A. R. Fair
Be Excited About Reading is our annual magazine promotion event. Children and adults alike love to read magazines. Magazines purchased through this program greatly benefit our school library. Students will receive the information to bring home on Monday Sept. 29.
Scholastic Book Fair
Books, gifts, activity kits and multi-media products are available for purchase.. These make great educational gifts for students, teachers, and the whole family. Sales from our book fair fund some of the books, videos and supplies needed for our school library.
BOOK CHARACTER DRESS UP DAY
(Kindergarten - 5th grade)
Book Character Dress Up Day is held in the spring of the school year. Costumes do not have to be fancy or professionally done. Homemade costumes from things you already have around the house are lots of fun to put together. Please help your child with their costume. We would like everyone to participate. Make sure your child knows the name of their character as well as the title of the book or series the character comes from.
